TOEFL Exam Becomes More Convenient for Indian Test-Takers

The Educational Testing Service (ETS), the organization that administers the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) exam, has made some changes to the test format to make it more convenient for Indian students who plan to study abroad. The exam will now be two hours instead of three, with a shorter reading section. Instead of the “independent writing” component, there will be a new task called “writing for an academic discussion.”

Dedicated Customer Service Helpline for Indian Test-Takers

In addition to the changes to the format, Indian test-takers will have access to a dedicated customer service helpline to answer any questions they may have. These changes will come into effect on July 26, 2023.

TOEFL iBT Widely Accepted

The TOEFL iBT is widely accepted as a test of English-language proficiency for non-native speakers. It is used for university admissions, work, and immigration in over 160 countries worldwide. Popular English-speaking destinations such as the USA, UK, Canada, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand accept TOEFL iBT scores to make high-stakes decisions.

No More Unscored Questions

Previously, the TOEFL iBT included some experimental questions that were unscored. These unscored questions will now be removed, and students will be able to see the official date when their scores will be released. They will also be notified in real time of changes to their score status.

More Payment Options and User-Friendly Registration Process

Students can now make payments using local credit and debit cards. The registration process has also been made more user-friendly and easily accessible. ETS has introduced these changes to increase transparency and ease for students taking the test.

ETS Focused on Customer Satisfaction

According to Amit Sevak, CEO of ETS, the organization is committed to driving the future of assessment through product innovations across education and learning. The enhancements to the TOEFL iBT were developed through the lens of customers and stakeholders because they are the highest priority to serve.
