In what can only be described as an extraordinary display of power-hitting, Rinku Singh played a heroic knock to take Kolkata Knight Riders to an incredible three-wicket win against Gujarat Titans in the 2023 Indian Premier League.

After struggling for runs early on, Rinku Singh was on a mission in the final over, as he smashed five consecutive sixes off Yash Dayal’s bowling to bring his side home. The Kolkata Knight Riders needed 28 runs to win off the last five balls, but Rinku Singh had other plans.

The 23-year-old started his onslaught with a six and a four off the final two deliveries of Joshua Little’s over, taking the pressure off himself and his batting partner, Umesh Yadav. But it was in the final over that he truly shone, as he unleashed a stunning display of power-hitting to leave the Gujarat Titans reeling.

With 29 runs to win off the final over, Rinku hit Dayal’s second delivery straight down the ground for a massive six. The Titans bowler tried to bowl a yorker on the next delivery, but ended up bowling a full-toss, which Rinku dispatched over the fine leg boundary for another maximum.

Dayal tried to mix things up with a slower ball outside off, but Rinku Singh was equal to the task, hitting the ball over cover for another six. The Titans captain, Rashid Khan, tried to have a word with Dayal to try and break Rinku’s concentration, but it was to no avail. Rinku hit the fifth ball of the over over long-on for another six to leave the Knight Riders needing just two runs off the final delivery.

In a fitting end to an incredible innings, Rinku Singh hit the final ball straight down the ground to seal the victory for the Knight Riders. It was a truly remarkable performance from the young batsman, who had struggled for runs early on in the innings. But when it mattered most, he produced an innings for the ages, hitting five consecutive sixes to seal a memorable win for his side.
