The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) unveiled their official jersey for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on their social media handle on March 7th. The jersey features a prominent dark blue colour with red stripes on each side, which is a stark contrast to their previous jersey. LSG’s captain, KL Rahul, BCCI secretary Jay Shah, team owner Sanjeev Goenka, and team mentor Gautam Gambhir were present for the unveiling.
Before the jersey unveiling, a fashion show was hosted where some of the LSG players, including Ravi Bishnoi, Jaydev Undakat, Deepak Hooda, Avesh Khan, and KL Rahul, showcased their fashion sense. After the fashion show, Gambhir, Rahul, and Goenka talked about what can be expected from LSG this season. Gambhir emphasized the importance of consistency and adaptability in the upcoming season, given the different conditions.
LSG’s coaching and management team will play a key role in achieving this consistency and adaptability. Andy Flower, the former Zimbabwe captain, will be the head coach for LSG this season, while Andy Bichel will be the bowling coach. The assistant coach will be Vijay Dahiya, the fielding coach will be Richard Halsall, and Warren Andrews will be the strength and conditioning coach.
The LSG squad for this season includes KL Rahul, Ayush Badoni, Karan Sharma, Manan Vohra, Quinton de Kock, Marcus Stoinis, Krishnappa Gowtham, Deepak Hooda, Kyle Mayers, Krunal Pandya, Avesh Khan, Mohsin Khan, Mark Wood, Mayank Yadav, Ravi Bishnoi, Nicholas Pooran, Jaydev Unadkat, Yash Thakur, Romario Shepherd, Daniel Sams, Amit Mishra, Prerak Mankad, Swapnil Singh, Naveen ul Haq, and Yudhvir Charak.
One of the key areas of focus for LSG will be the performance of their skipper KL Rahul. The right-hand batter had a successful IPL 2022 season, scoring over 600 runs for his team. However, Rahul’s form in the Test and T20 formats has been inconsistent, leading to his exclusion from the Indian team. As he returns to the national team, all eyes will be on his performance with the bat in the IPL 2023 season.
Overall, LSG is looking to make a mark in the IPL 2023 season, and with the right mix of talent and leadership, they have the potential to go all the way. LSG will hope that their new jersey and coaching staff can lead them to success in the upcoming IPL season.
